Cooke Brothers are a family run business with over 135 years of successful trading; as such we take seriously all the facets required of a company of our stature from company ethics through to our social and environmental responsibilities.

Our success was not established by luck alone, we would not be here today without the commitment and dedication of our workforce. We treat every employee as an individual and take great pride in their personal development. We have held the Investors in People standard for over 10 years and see this as tool for identifying training opportunities at every level within the company. All employees are given the opportunity for continual personal development which benefits the individual and in the long term, the company as a whole. This is achieved by either in house training, external training to nationally recognised qualifications, or industry based qualifications such as the GAI (Guild of Architectural Ironmongers). All employees are given personal training awards as recognition for achieving their goals.

Our local community is important to us and we are proud to have set up many links with local organisations including both primary and secondary schools, we have held open days where children are given factory tours and learn about how our products are manufactured. We have previously been awarded the title of National Winner of the Business in the Community Award, which for a company of our size was a great achievement; this further reflected the work we try to do within our local community. In additional we encourage young people to come into the engineering industry and many students have benefited from the opportunities our industry liaison initiatives have given them. We also support the Princes Trust Volunteer Scheme and Young Enterprise Scheme as well as offering charitable donations to local organisations within our close community.

| ENVIRONMENTAL RESPONSIBILITIES |

Our responsibility and the contributions that can be made to environmental matters by proactive and intelligent stewardship is important to us. This environmental policy has resulted in the company gaining national recognition through several awards, including an award for Environmental Achievement in Business. In addition, the company has been awarded ISO 14001 which clearly demonstrates its focus on reducing its impact on the environment. The aims and practices of the business are geared constantly to developing and improving standards in a safe, controlled and environmentally friendly way. This includes maximising energy efficiency, minimizing waste by improving recycling and reuse and taking appropriate measures to deal with other environmentally sensitive matters such as noise pollution, water consumption and deleterious emissions. We have also implemented many strategies with suppliers and customers to reduce waste where possible including returnable and reusable packaging. We are committed to reducing our carbon footprint and are continually looking at ways we can manufacture in the most sustainable fashion.
