June 2022

Cooke Brothers are supplying hinges to Integrated Doorset Solutions Limited (IDSL) for use at the new Sandwell Aquatics Centre for the 2022 Commonwealth Games.

Sandwell Aquatics Centre will be an indoor facility located in the West Midlands and will contain an Olympic-size swimming pool, a 10-metre diving board with 25 metre pool, a community swimming pool and permanent seating for 1,000 spectators with additional seating during the Games. Construction began in January 2020 and is expected to be completed by Spring 2022.

Architects for the Sandwell Aquatics Centre are Roberts Limbrick with Wates Construction as the main contractor.

After the games, the centre will undergo redevelopment and will open for public use in May 2023. The redevelopment will see removal of the seating used for the Games and replacement with sports halls, a gym, activity studios, an indoor cycling studio, a sauna and steam room and a football pitch. It will also include a dry diving area, an urban park with children’s playground and café.

Cooke Brothers are supplying IDSL with their 7730 Concealed Bearing Butt Hinge in 316 grade stainless steel with a decorative, RAL 7004 powder coat finish for use throughout the interior.
