The project demanded durable, corrosion-resistant hinges for buses’ external engine covers and maintenance access panels. These components have to cope with frequent use, exposure to the elements, and potential tampering, so they need to be robust, practical and hard-wearing.

Working to the client’s exact specifications, Cookes developed a series of stainless steel lift-off hinges with a radiused, cranked profile and sloped geometry to match the contours of the body of the vehicles.

The hinges that Cooke Brothers designed and manufactured are made from heavy-duty 304-grade stainless steel to provide long-term finish and performance in high-vibration, high-traffic environments – a key requirement for commercial vehicles. The hinge provides a secure, tamper-resistant pivot while allowing easy removal for maintenance access.
