Precision Hinges for Precision Doors
September 2025
When Kingspan Precision Doors needed a custom hinge for their cleanroom door systems, they asked the bespoke hinge specialists, Cooke Brothers for an answer. The result was a small but technically demanding component: a bespoke mini flag hinge, manufactured in-house to exacting tolerances.
Kingspan’s cleanroom doors are used in high-performance environments where hygiene, airtightness and smooth operation are essential. From food production to pharmaceutical manufacturing, these doors are part of tightly controlled systems where every component must support airtight seals, acoustic performance and a clean, contemporary finish.
The hinge needed to do a lot in a small space. Built from 304-grade stainless steel and manufactured in left- and right-handed versions, the mini flag hinge had to be perfectly centred within the geometry of the door and frame to ensure a secure and flush fit. Even the slightest deviation would affect the performance of the airtight seal or disrupt the lines of the final installation.
Cooke Brothers developed the hinge specifically for this application, working closely with Kingspan to ensure the final product met their functional and performance requirements. As with all cleanroom components, material selection, durability and surface quality were critical, as was the ability to manufacture consistent, repeatable precision at scale.
It’s the kind of project Cooke Brothers is known for: highly engineered, technically specific, and manufactured in the UK by a team with deep experience in bespoke hardware.
