Cooke Brothers launches a concealed self-closing hinge system

Master hinge-maker Cooke Brothers has introduced the Pivota Close, a concealed hinge system that also includes an integrated self-closing function that is designed for use on internal doors in premium commercial, residential, and hospitality settings. With a compact footprint combined with intelligent mechanical control, the Pivota® Close offers architects and specifiers a reliable alternative to visible surface-mounted closers that will not compromise accessibility, usability, or aesthetics.

The Pivota® DXS Close includes two pre-tensioned springs and an adjustable viscous damping mechanism inside a fully concealed, three-way adjustable hinge body. The self-closing action engages at approximately 110°, allowing doors to be left open for general use and to close automatically and quietly when required. The integral damping function means a controlled, quiet latch engagement that supports user comfort and acoustic integrity.

The hinge is suitable for doors weighing up to 80kg and allows for a full 180° opening with minimal resistance, an important feature for users with reduced mobility or when doors need to remain fully open. The maximum operating force on a one-metre-wide door is just 6.9 Nm at 90°, with no additional drag or hold-open force required. The system eliminates the need for a third hinge or a separate closer, reducing component count and simplifying installation.

Three-way adjustability (height, depth, and lateral) supports precise alignment on site, even in challenging retrofit applications. The Pivota® Close is ideal for full-height, frameless or arched doors, where visual detailing needs to remain uninterrupted by hardware. It installs with standard concealed hinge routing and is available in a variety of finishes to complement a wide range of design schemes.
